HOMEOPATHY

Homeopathy is used to treat both chronic and acute conditions and can be taken alongside veterinary medications, if necessary.

Conditions that may respond well to homeopathy include:

  • First Aid - fractures, trauma, shock, burns, bites, fever

  • Acute illnesses - parvo virus, cat flu, cystitis, conjunctivitis, colic, mastitis

  • Chronic illnesses - skin conditions, allergies, digestive issues, recurring ear infections, fertility issues, arthritis, epilepsy

  • Behavioural problems - grief, anxiety, fears, timidity, jealousy, aggression, past abuse

Homeopathy is a holistic approach to health that stimulates the body’s natural healing processes with natural, gentle remedies. Every animal is unique and the treatment is tailored to each individual. Homeopathy works at a very deep level physically, mentally and emotionally.

Developed by German physician, Dr Samuel Hahnemann, homeopathy has been used safely and effectively for over 200 years on babies, children, adults and animals. Homeopathy is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. In other words, a plant, mineral or animal substance taken in a diluted amount will alleviate the same symptoms it causes, if taken in large amounts.

Consultation

An initial consultation takes around one hour. Because homeopathy treats the whole being, a range of questions will be asked about your animal - not just the particular issue you require assistance with - before a remedy is prescribed. House calls can be made and depending on your location, an additional mileage fee may be charged. Alternatively, consultations can take place online.

REIKI

Reiki works at physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. It is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that can assist with accelerating recovery from surgery, illness and injury, but the reiki energy will also find the source of the problem whether we know the problem or not.

Reiki may relieve symptoms, reduce pain and reduce side-effects of drugs and other treatments. It helps with anxiety-related problems by promoting energetic harmony, wellbeing, relaxation and stress relief. Reiki is an excellent treatment for rescue animals who have suffered traumatic experiences and abuse.

Reiki is a hands-on healing method that originated in Japan. The practitioner channels healing energy through the hands to the animal through a light touch either directly on the body or from a distance. The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) translates to “universal life energy.”

Reiki is based on the idea that all living beings have life energy flowing through them. When life energy is high, your pets are healthy and balanced, more relaxed and less likely to get sick. When it is low, they’ll often be more easily affected by stress and less resistant to illness.

Reiki is a safe complement to conventional medicine, Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy and all other forms of healing.

Consultation

During a consultation (20 - 30 minutes), animals often experience a deep state of peace as the Reiki clears imbalances, allowing for new and harmonious patterns of health and wellness to emerge. Physical contact is not a requirement for Reiki and is traditionally offered to the animal hands off. This way, the animal controls the treatment, either accepting Reiki from a distance or settling themselves against the practitioner’s hands. Both approaches are equally effective.

BACH FLOWERS

Animals respond well to flower essences and they can be especially useful for emotional issues, such as:

  • Separation anxiety
  • Changes in the home - such as new pet, baby or new home
  • Grief
  • Jealousy
  • Anxiety
  • Rehoming
  • Traumatic experiences

Bach Flowers (also called Flower Essences) were developed by Dr Edward Bach - an immunologist, physician and bacteriologist in the 1930s. He discovered that the energies from different flowers have the ability to affect our emotions positively.

Bach flower remedies are tinctures made from plants, trees and flowers. The vibrational energy of the plant is captured and gently restores the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions which may interfere with the equilibrium and health of the person or animal. Bach created a total of 38 flower essences all with individual properties to address a range of emotional issues.

The most well-known Bach flower is Rescue Remedy (also known as Five Flower Essence, as it is made up of five different flower essences) which is the ‘go to’ for many families in times of stress and emotional upset.

Flower essences work in harmony with herbs, homeopathy and veterinary medications and are safe for everyone to use.
